Today, and through the formation of Venues NSW in December 2020, we continue that legacy as custodians of the most significant sporting and entertainment precincts in NSW – all within a short distance of more than 80 per cent of the State’s population, and in the heart of the Newcastle-Sydney-Wollongong cultural, social and economic belt that drives eastern Australia.
The rebuilding of Allianz Stadium has delivered new public open space, artwork and facilities to the Sydney Cricket Ground precinct. The new venue is the third neighbour stadium to the SCG, which was established in the 1850s by troops from nearby Victoria Barracks.
Venues NSW is seeking regulatory planning approval to increase the number of concerts that may be held at Allianz Stadium from an average of 4 to 20 per year.
